I should have taken a picture of all the products we had. It is difficult to think back to the chaos and recall all the products we tried. Here is the list of some of the products that I remember putting on Baby J at the beginning months of TSW.
After months of trial and still seeing redness and ooze, we decided to try moisture withdrawal. One morning Baby J woke up with no redness on his skin after a night of wet wrap. I proceeded to do our usual skincare routine and applied moisturizer all over. Almost instantly, the redness came back. It looked like he was wearing red sleeves and leggings. Perhaps it was the product, but we have applied so much on his skin that maybe his skin needed a break from it all.
We decided to allow his skin to heal naturally on the outside, while we focused on diet to heal from within. Moisture withdrawal worked for Baby J after all.
Our favorite moisturizers at the time were the Vintage Tradition Tallow Balm, TheHomeHerbalist's Lemongrass & Zinc Balms, & Robertson's Skin Repair.
The best over-the-counter moisturizer would be CeraVe Baby Cream.
Our favorite bath products at the time were Aveeno Baby Eczema Therapy Soothing Bath, Epsoak Epsom Salt, & Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Bar Soap.
For the Itch
We did not have a favorite itch product, as none of these really worked for Baby J going through TSW.
My best advice to protect the skin from the itch is to create a thick enough barrier with layers of gauze and 100% cotton clothing, so the skin cannot be harmed or disturbed by scratching.
